One-liner
Bay Area industrial pop artist PARIS, Well Enough out now on Hostile Takeover.
Short Bio
PARIS makes industrial pop that sounds expensive, intentional and quietly hostile to interpretation. The self-released debut EP, led by "Consent of the Quiet" and "Don't Ask What I Am," drew national press and a following that arrived faster than anyone expected.
Based in the Bay Area, PARIS has played out since 1996 and writes, performs and produces every record alone. Well Enough, the full-length, came out in 1997 on PARIS's own label, Hostile Takeover, with distribution by Interscope Records. Tribute, a collection of B-sides, followed. This fall PARIS takes the band across the West Coast, the Southwest and the Rockies.
Long Bio
PARIS began playing Bay Area clubs in 1996, building an audience on a sound that is polished on purpose: industrial pop with the edges left in, and nowhere in the mix to hide. Every record is written, played and produced by PARIS alone.
The independently released debut EP arrived in 1997, led by "Consent of the Quiet" and "Don't Ask What I Am." Both songs circulated well beyond the club circuit, and the EP drew national press, including an interview in which PARIS declined, politely and at length, to explain any of it.
PARIS runs the label Hostile Takeover, which released the full-length Well Enough in 1997 with distribution by Interscope Records. Tribute, a collection of B-sides, followed soon after. Live, PARIS fronts a four-piece band of multi-instrumentalists who trade instruments from song to song, taking the records on the road in arrangements built for the stage.
